Freight Operations Assistant

£20,000- £25,000 per annum (flexible depending on experience)
Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Operations Assistant in the Freight Department. In this entry-level position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient functioning of our Freight Operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent organisational skills, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Candidate:
- Experience within a import or export position within the freight industry is highly desirable
- Proven experience of imputing freight bookings is highly desirable
- Attention to detail in handling documentation and tracking shipments
- Critical thinking skills to quickly address and resolve operational issues
- Ability to adapt and make decisions under pressure
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments
- Willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
- Competency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to handle inquiries and provide updates to clients
- Professional and courteous communication when dealing with customers
- Flexibility to handle changing priorities and adapt to dynamic Freight Operations
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
- Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Approach to identifying areas for improvement and suggesting solutions

Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to both Air and Ocean Departments
- Explore, cultivate, and ensure new opportunities within current business relationships
- Uphold and oversee service standards for existing and strategic accounts
- Assist the external sales team
- Oversee business processes from initiation to conclusion
- Optimize freight profits by selecting suitable airlines and carriers
- Efficiently manage your time to benefit the business
- Generate and follow up on quotations for clients and agents
