As a mid-weight WordPress developer at our agency, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing our clients’ digital visions to life. Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around crafting dynamic and user-friendly websites, leveraging your front-end and back-end development expertise. From collaborating with designers to translate mockups into functional interfaces to implementing complex features and ensuring seamless user experiences across various devices, your keen eye for detail and passion for clean, efficient code will be instrumental. Additionally, you’ll actively participate in project meetings, providing technical insights and contributing innovative ideas to elevate our team’s collective capabilities. Our tech stack primarily consists of WordPress and Roots Sage for the ground-up theme development based on PHP and the Laravel MVC/Blade frameworks. Front-end technologies include HTML, SCSS/CSS, Javascript, Node/NPM, and preprocessors.

You will work closely with your fellow developers and the project management team to provide updates on ongoing projects/tasks and help provide accurate time estimates for potential new work.

The development team prides itself on its members sharing ideas, experiences, and technical solutions on coding/development issues and improving the team’s internal and external processes where you think things can be improved.

This is a mid-level role, and you will need at least 3+ years of experience in WordPress development, ideally working in an agency, coupled with lots of ambition.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Translate design mockups into responsive and interactive websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Collaborate with designers and project managers to ensure the timely and accurate implementation of website features and functionalities.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  • Optimise websites for speed, performance, and search engine optimisation (SEO).
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure seamless user experiences across various browsers and devices.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in web development, proposing innovative solutions to enhance our projects.
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions, providing technical insights and contributing to project planning and strategy.
  • Assist in quality assurance and user acceptance testing to identify and address bugs or issues before deployment.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic.
  • Maintain and update existing websites, implementing new features and enhancements as required.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years experience, ideally in an agency environment
  • Experience developing and delivering custom WordPress themes
  • Notbased on using existing themes, child themes, page builders or plugins
  • Good understanding of custom post types, taxonomies, and general WordPress architecture
  • Custom Gutenberg Blocks
  • ACF Pro
  • WooCommerce
  • PHP
  • HTML, CSS/Sass and JavaScript
  • Node/NPM
  • Understanding of responsive development between browsers and operating systems
  • Mysql and database experience
  • Github / Version control experience
  • Understanding of JSON / REST API’s
  • A working knowledge of the Adobe Suite/Sketch/Figma
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
