Gas Engineer

Reed Construction is proud to represent a housing association based in the Northeast to appoint a Gas Engineer. 

Support the delivery of a flexible multi-skilled (TradePlus) to the business's customers. Ensuring all works are undertaken to agreed quality standards, within appropriate timescales/ priorities and in line with customer needs and expectations as well as the needs of the business.

Key accountabilities and job content:

• To fulfil the requirements as set out within the Tier 6 role profile
• Deliver excellent customer service through excellent communication with residents and all other stakeholders in accordance with their objectives and values
• Communicate as required with management, other internal staff and contractors prior to, during, and on completion of works
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment: leaving the site/property clean, tidy and free from obstructions in line with Waste Management procedures and Health & Safety legislation
• Ability to organise own resources to achieve a standard of excellence, delivering high productivity for self, team and customers
• Ensure that appropriate materials are available in order to complete work ‘right first time’ wherever possible
• Carry out allocated duties and record completion of works/findings via mobile device or line manager
• Participate in out of hours services and undertake overtime as and when required, in line with business need
• Have a flexible approach to working hours in order to meet customer needs, expectations and demand
• Signpost customers and stakeholders in relation to safeguarding, ASB, or other housing-related issues where possible, reporting identified issues to line management for further action where required
• Responsible for the appropriate use and condition of Company-provided assets (i.e. vehicles, PDAs, tools, equipment, PPE etc.)
• Work within the team or as an individual and to support the principle of providing a flexible multi skilled workforce

Requirements:

• Relevant trade experience or equivalent qualification
• Level 3 vocational qualification in Gas Fitting
• Gas related certificates:
• Mandatory- Domestic: ACS, CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, CPA1, HTR1, MET1
• Optional – Commercial: CODNCO1, CORT1, CIGA1, ICPN1, BMP1, TPCP1
• Valid UK driving licence required

Skills and abilities:

• Effective communication skills with different audiences and channels
• Good awareness of the organisation’s objectives and standards, especially in IT, Health & Safety, Environmental and Equality & Diversity areas
• Professional attitude in challenging or urgent situations
• Proficient use of IT and media tools (incl. PDAs)
• Flexible to work at different locations and/or teams within the organisation’s scope of work.
• Safe and competent use of plant, equipment, PPE and knowledge of relevant Health & Safety and Waste Management Legislation
• Value for money mindset
• TradePlus: As a TradePlus operative, you will perform minor works outside of your main trade to achieve productivity targets as specified in the relevant Guidance Document. Full training will be provided.
