We are seeking a dedicated Cover Teacher to join our team as soon as possible. This role is crucial in maintaining continuity of education, supervising classes in the absence of the usual teacher, and ensuring student safety and adherence to school policies. This is a role to start in September 2024 and would be great for anyone looking to train to teach as the school can offer the progression through the school.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring student safety and behaviour.
- Deliver and assist in the completion of work set by the teacher.
- Manage student behaviour in line with school policies.
- Perform daily lunchtime supervision duties.
- Build positive professional relationships with students.
- Supervise a range of subjects across the curriculum, including outdoor sports.
- Utilise IT systems for setting work, taking registers, and internal communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with secondary school age students is preferable.
- Experience in a secondary school classroom environment or working with young people in the community is advantageous.
- Good IT skills are essential.
- Must be flexible, resilient, and able to supervise various subjects.
- Minimum GCSE level qualifications (or equivalent) with good written English.
- Ideal for individuals with experience working with young people or those considering a career in teaching.
