Role Profile
General Manager
Salary: £40k per annum, pro rata. (14 hours a week = £16k per annum)
Contract: Fixed term for 12 months.
Hours per week: Part time - A minimum of 14 hours a week up to a maximum of 20 hours a week.
Location: Fully remote - home based.
Flexible working: Flexible working across the week to accommodate individual circumstances and organisational needs is available. Please note - there will be the occasional requirement to work some evenings and for overnight stays away at conferences at times throughout the year.

About the Role:
To provide a comprehensive administrative and operational support service to the recently established Confederation of British Surgery.
To act as a focal point for the provision of help and advice to prospective members and others seeking advice on any issue relating to the practice of surgery or provision of surgical services.
To support business development and formulate strategic planning.
The priorities of the post are to:
- Raise the profile of the CBS
- Increase membership numbers
- Work closely with our marketing agency to enhance social media contacts (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Manage the web site
- Manage the Surgical Advisory service.
- Act as Membership manager to coordinate and deliver all administrative requirements
It is really important that you have a flexible approach and attitude to your work and a strong commitment to CBS and its future success.
You will be a key player within a small team working hard to ensure that CBS can provide benefits to surgeon members.
This post will be challenging and will demand excellent organisational and communication skills along with a high degree of knowledge and accuracy in both secretarial and administrative procedures.
Skills and experience preferred in:
- Operations and administration
- CRM and IT systems
- Communications and Marketing - social media and events
- Preparing and managing budgets
- Customer service
About CBS:
First established in 2018 and with over 250 members, the Confederation of British Surgery (CBS) is a recently recognised trade union committed exclusively to surgeons and their related teams and families.
The aim of the CBS is to look after the professional and employment interests of surgeons and their teams irrespective of Surgical Royal College or Surgical Specialty Association affiliation. It has an active Surgical Advisory Service which provides both legal and pastoral advice to surgeons in difficulty from whatever cause.
