Maninplace has been responding and supporting people who present as homeless or rough living in Telford for over 16 years. Our staffing team is committed to providing a safe environment that enables customers to develop their confidence, self-esteem and to help them reach their full potential.

As a “Generic Worker” you will be part of a dedicated team ensuring we provide a high-quality service that reduces the risk of a return to homelessness or rough living for all who seek our assistance.

Maninplace operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This role will be helping cover all areas off need, inclusive of the weekend, days, evenings, and night shifts to cover planned and unplanned staff absences. You will be additional assistance to our staff who work out of normal office hours, this ensures Maninplace customers get additional support where staffing and services are working to a minimal capacity. You will need to be flexible and resilient to be able to respond to whatever needs are presented as and when they arise.

Every aspect of the role will maintain a person-centred approach that supports all customers. Your tenacious and resilient nature will ensure every task is completed to a high standard and will promote the well-being and confidence of customers accommodated within Maninplace Accommodation.

Hours of work

  • Zero hour contract
  • Days, Evenings, Overnight and Weekend shifts available as need arise to cover planned and unplanned staff absences and where dual staff working is applicable.
  • Maninplace operates 365 days a year, therefore shifts will include working over the Festive periods.

Salary

  • £11.22 per hour.
  • Pro-rata annual leave entitlement.
  • 1 day recognition after 1 year of service.
  • Access to the work-based pension scheme with company contributions added after successful 3-month probationary period.
  • Mileage allowance of 45p per mile for in work travel.
  • Access to wellbeing and trauma services.
  • Organisation rebate for signing up to DBS update service.

Qualification & experience

  • Qualifications in Maths and English at level GCSE and above, must be computer literate and have experience of working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in support work, housing and the homelessness sector would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for all applicants.

Job Summary

To ensure all customers' applicable support needs are met when we have minimal staff on duty, out-of-hours. This role will cover planned and unplanned staff absences, also, to strengthen the staff presents at weekends and bank holidays.

Flexible approach to working is essential for this position as there will be a need for training in various areas of the services, all with the aim of bringing continuity of service delivery.

Each roles being covered by this post has its own job summary, which are available upon request. However, all roles include elements of cleaning, admin, phone calls and support, in order to maximise our ability to respond to those at the point of need effectively.

Abilities required

  • Have some basic DIY skills, i.e., preparation and painting abilities, and be able to construct flat packed furniture.

  • Be educated to GCSE Level standard.
  • Be confident as a lone worker.
  • Be Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office software and good email communications skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of basic DIY skills, i.e. preparation and painting, flat packed furniture construction.
  • Experience of cleaning in a hotel or residential care setting
  • Have a basic understanding of the complex issues likely to be presented by vulnerable people. These may include mental and physical ill health, challenging behaviour including sexualised behaviour, drug and alcohol abuse, anti-social behaviour and criminal offending
  • Experience of using CCTV systems.
  • Have access to a vehicle to use for business purposes.
