The Role: 

Get Safe is the Worcestershire partnership title for the identification and management of multi-agency support and protection for children and young people at risk of exploitation. It consists of partner agencies such as Worcestershire Children First, West Mercia Police, Youth Justice Service, Health and Education.

Your role will be to work directly with children and young people who go missing from home or care. The post holder would be responsible for completing timely Welfare Return Interviews for children and young people in Worcestershire, and Worcestershire children placed in out-of-county placements. The purpose of a Welfare Return Interview is to gain information from the child to better understand why they went missing, what they experienced, how we might be able to prevent missing episodes in future and to identify and assess any potential risk of harm or vulnerability and support needed.

The worker will have skills in assessing risk and have knowledge of issues that affect young people e.g. child sexual exploitation, gangs/ youth violence, lack of educational engagement, to ensure effective support is provided in order to improve outcomes. The post holder will also work closely and liaise with the child's allocated Social Worker or other services/professionals.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
