When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

About the role
They are seeking a dedicated and motivated Governance Officer to join their Corporate Assurance team and play a crucial role in the smooth operation of internal Board and committee meetings as well as support the work of the Corporate Assurance team more generally.
This is an exciting role that will work alongside a highly engaged and dedicated Board, to support their organisation to have strong, effective, and adaptable governance.
You would be joining them at a really exciting time. Like many organisations, they are looking outward and to the future to understand how they can create a better future for young cancer patients, one in which the whole system of support around them works together, and no-one is left behind. Their governance must support and challenge how they do things, as they experiment with new ways to create impact, influence the whole system, and importantly –fund this vital work.
The Governance Officer is responsible for managing governance administration tasks essential for the organisation’s governance processes to run efficiently and effectively. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
The purpose of this role is to maximise the effectiveness of their corporate governance:
•Providing high quality and proactive support to the CEO and Chair of Board of Trustees to enable smooth and strong governance.
•Being the operational Governance support for the Board of Trustees and its committees ensuring that they operate effectively.
•Supporting the effective working of the Board of Trustees and Executive Team and undertaking specific projects relating to governance requirements.
•Managing, leading and administrating the organisational Governance calendar and procedures
•Supporting as required corporate administrative processes, ensuring compliance and best practice
Our client is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you.
This role can be home (UK based), office based (in either their London or Bristol office) or hybrid. Please note that the successful candidate will need to attend all Board meetings, some committee meetings and some away days in person. On occasion, overnight stays will be required. A schedule of provisional dates for next year has been included in this advert.
They would love to hear from you if you have:
•Corporate governance experience gained in a charity/ public sector setting or other similar environment
•An understanding of governance planning and monitoring
•Experience of compliance reporting and corporate governance including development and reviewing policy and regulatory change
•An understanding of risk management frameworks, identifying and managing risk and related controls
•The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders and a high level of emotional intelligence, both in spoken and written communications
