Job description

This Graduate Engineering Project Manager will report to the Senior Project Manager and will work within the Network Operations Distribution Capital Delivery directorate based in our Colchester/Purfleet office. You will be a Fixed Term Contract (24 months ) employee.
You will attract a salary of £39,732.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

The Programme
The 2-year structured graduate programme will offer you the opportunity of 9 months rotational placements, relevant to your role, helping you better understand the role of UK Power Networks and its directorates. The second year will see you placed in your first supported role. Working towards the roles and responsibilities outline below, you will start contributing to your team's success and meeting objectives. Throughout the programme you will develop the knowledge, competencies and leadership skills through embedded training sessions to help you excel at UK Power Networks, along with mentorship from a senior leader.
The Job
Network Operations is the beating heart of UK Power Networks. The largest directorate in the business works directly on the electricity network. Keeping the lights on for over 19 million people.
You will support the team to ensure all project related works are managed to the highest standard while ensuring all relevant health and safety policies are followed. Particular focus will be placed around putting people to work and ensuring all work is completed as safely as possible.
The role includes liaison with Asset Management, Capital Programme, Delivery Contractors, and Operational teams, which is a great opportunity to develop your internal network and understanding of the wider business.
You will work towards becoming authorised to operate on the distribution network, as an AP or SAP. You will also manage a portfolio of projects from inception to completion, while ensuring that all work is undertaken in a safe manner.
The Team and Role
The Distribution Capital Delivery (DCD) team is responsible for the efficient delivery of the RIIO-ED2 settlement through our Asset Portfolio Plan for all UK Power Networks license areas.
As part of this team, the Graduate Project Manager will support the Eastern Region deliver several projects, spread across different areas.
The value of the portfolio will vary depending on the content but will be in the order of £2m - £10m per annum with multiple low/medium value projects plus also a few large value schemes circa £300k. The portfolio will include the management and assurance of contractors who are delivering the work on behalf of UK Power Networks.
What you'll need:
You will have achieved or be on target to achieve a minimum of an Honours bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Full driving licence is required as you will drive to sites across the Eastern area

Health & Safety Responsibilities
