To support this, the Place & Economy Directorate are pleased to offer an opportunity for a graduate Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Health Division for an 18-month period.

‘Completing the graduate role at the Council gave me a great opportunity to build on my knowledge from university in all areas of Environmental Health. The experience gained in each discipline helped me to complete my registration to the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, decide on my career path and secure a permanent role as an Environmental Health Officer based in the Commercial team covering Food Safety and Health & Safety. The graduate role was a very enjoyable and rewarding experience, especially as the Dales has a lot to offer from Festivals and Events to Private Water Supplies, HMO’s and Permitted Industrial sites’.

The successful candidate will support the Environmental Health Manager, Principal Environmental Health Officer and other service colleagues in delivering the full remit of Environmental Health duties and responsibilities, together with the opportunity to contribute to specialist project working.

Applications are invited from newly qualified students with a Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Health, plus those students who are due to qualify in this disciplines during 2024. We are looking for candidates who have energy, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and an open mind to all aspects of Environmental Health work.
