Job Summary:
Salary range: £41,967 - £50,088 per annum
Work location: London
Hours per week: 36
Contract type: Permanent
Closing date: 11th February 2024.
Interview date: Week commencing 19th February 2024
About Us:
Develop positive partnerships with the voluntary groups that work in our communities.
At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people, businesses, organisations and voluntary groups at the heart of everything we do, working alongside them to provide quality services that are responsive and effective. Committed to acting with openness, honesty and compassion, we aim to listen and understand in a way that is respectful, encourages involvement and meets the needs of our diverse communities.
The Role:
When you join us in this important role you’ll support the creation of a resilient Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), and develop a thorough understanding of the resources we allocate to local groups. Gathering information on the use of grants and the results they achieve, you’ll visit voluntary organisations to monitor their work, and produce briefings with summaries and recommendations on the health of the groups we fund.
You’ll identify both good and bad practice in local VCS organisations and support them to improve their performance, and work to create an independent and sustainable sector while maintaining a broad overview of the Council’s expenditure. We’ll also expect you to keep up-to-speed with the national and local agendas that affect the VCS, and highlight any areas that affect the sector’s ability to deliver outcomes that improve our residents’ lives.
You’ll have a number of additional responsibilities – these will involve coordinating partnerships between the funders who support the VCS’s work in our borough and leading a range of communication activities, including project managing events, and developing and maintaining engaging digital content. We’ll also expect you to explore new ways of working as you broker positive collaborations between colleagues in different areas of the Council.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.
About You:
Always ready to rise to a challenge, you’ll have proven experience of grant administration and performance monitoring across a portfolio of projects, and well developed knowledge of evaluation systems. We’ll expect you to possess an understanding of data collection methods, collation processes and the presentation of performance reports, while your excellent communication skills will allow you to develop productive relationships with colleagues from many different departments in our organisation.
You will have an understanding of equality and diversity and how this can have an impact on the delivery of services in addition to experience of capacity building in the voluntary sector. Capable of representing the Council and liaising with external organisations, we’ll also look for knowledge of financial Management and fundraising in the VCS, and how voluntary organisations deliver services in the community.
Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. And as a key member of our team, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities for development and progression within our organisation. We’re committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity, and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We’re a Disability Confident Employer – committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
