Grave Digger

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Grave digger to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in grounds maintenance, excavation, and grave digging, with familiarity in operating machinery such as mechanical excavators and dumpers. This role requires physical capability to undertake manual excavation and handling tasks, as well as the ability to work efficiently within specified timeframes and under pressure when necessary. Knowledge of excavation shoring installation and Health & Safety implications is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Excavation Work: Perform machine excavation, hand excavation, and backfilling excavation tasks as required. Previous experience in grave digging is desirable.
• Grounds Maintenance: Undertake grounds maintenance duties as needed, including landscaping, grass cutting, and general upkeep of outdoor spaces.
• Physical Tasks: Demonstrate physical capability to carry out lifting, handling, and hand excavation activities effectively and safely.
• Adherence to Timescales: Work efficiently to meet project deadlines and adhere to specified timescales. Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions as needed.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure familiarity with installation procedures for excavation shoring and adhere to all Health & Safety implications associated with excavation work.
• Equipment Operation: Utilize mechanical excavators, such as the Bobcat 1.7 series, and Thwaites dumper (1 tonne) to carry out excavation and landscaping tasks. Previous experience operating this equipment is preferred.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to accomplish tasks and contribute to the overall success of projects.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in excavation work, with specific experience in machine excavation, hand excavation, and backfilling excavation. Grave digging experience is desirable.
• Grounds maintenance experience is advantageous.
• Physical ability to undertake lifting, handling, and manual excavation tasks.
• Capability to work efficiently to timescales and follow instructions accurately.
• Familiarity with the installation of excavation shoring and understanding of Health & Safety implications.
• Experience operating a mechanical excavator, preferably the Bobcat 1.7 series, and Thwaites dumper (1 tonne).
• Possession of a valid driving license is desirable.
