Leading developer of grid-scale BESS projects in the UK.
The third member of this growing start up is sought to work on industry leading transmission based BESS projects within the UK. They are a dynamic and growing developer in the battery energy storage sector, developing and constructing projects in joint ventures with other leading developers and EPC partners.
The company:
They are a growing player in the sector, entering their 3rd year in the space. Currently, they have existing joint ventures and partnerships with major players in the market, which has resulted in a strong pipeline of over 100MW. They have a unique business model, which includes working on joint ventures with other leading players in the industry to develop and build out this project pipeline.
Although they are relatively close to the start of their lifetime, they have a really strong business plan to grow the organisation. They also are growing an international presence, looking at projects out in the US! They have big plans for the short term too, moving from a ready to build developer through to owning and operating.
Culturally, they are nimble and agile, due to their small nature. They're really looking for knowledgeable and innovative people to join them on their journey. Due to their small nature, they lack bureaucracy. They have recently closed on a leading BESS project, and are able to keep control over this, which again shows this lack of red tape. They are entrepreneurial, always looking for problem solvers and switched on people to support them on their mission.
The role:
You'd be the third hire into the team, which is a crucial addition to the team as you'd be the main technical head for the group. Your role would be focused on transmission level connections, so experience with this is crucial to this position.
As the team is small, this role wouldn't be limited to just Grid Connections, but you'd have the opportunity to work on general engineering surrounding the battery energy storage projects. This would include procurement and selection on suppliers, so work with this would also be really valuable.
Due to their entrepreneurial spirit, the core responsibilities are varied, and you'd have the opportunity to shape the role around your skillset. The key areas they are looking for skills in are:
- Utility scale connection experience. The majority of their connections are at transmission level, so work with the TSO would be valuable.
- Experience working with utility scale BESS projects. This is the main technology the group works with and as this role heavily technical, work with this technology is a requirement for this position.
- Knowledge of the UK Grid Connection process. Networks in this space and experience in liaising on Grid Connection offers is also necessary for this role. You'll also be working on contract documents as well as delivery partners.
