We are looking for an accomplished Grounds person to join our Grounds team and maintain the outstanding work and study environment at the College. Your Duties Your duties will include; To provide a Grounds Maintenance service for the Estate. To ensure the College grounds and all ancillary equipment is maintained in accordance with the high standards set by the College and as per regulatory requirements. To follow instructions from your Line Manager, dealing promptly with any issues arising and escalating them immediately where necessary. To work within collaboratively with colleagues and individually on all aspects of Grounds Maintenance. Assist with the emptying of bins and litter picking throughout the day in the areas in which you are operating. Routine grass/lawn mowing and general maintenance for open spaces and communal areas including wiping down and cleaning of all outside furniture in areas of operation. Clearance of gardens and overgrown areas in order to return them to maintainable standards. Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary. Routine Grounds Maintenance to occupied areas such as blowing, grass cutting / lawn mowing, lawncare, plant care edging, general seasonal boarder works, mulching, hedge cutting, basic planting and garden pruning, strimming, weeding and other related works. Tree maintenance, watering, weeding, adjusting tree stakes and ties, checking guards, checking for pests, low level pruning / lopping, coppicing and to consider all round tree safety around the campus. Undertake hard landscaping tasks such as fencing, gates, paths, and roads (pothole repair) including line marking where necessary. Safe use of pesticides and fertilisers, to help with weed control and pest elimination such as wasps and moles. Maintenance of artificial sports grounds, leaf blowing, general repairs and litter picking. Operate equipment and machinery and carry out basic maintenance to all ground’s machinery and equipment in line with Health & Safety regulations. Person Specification The successful candidates will possess extensive grounds and garden maintenance experience. You will have used a range of machinery and vehicles such as tractors. You will have a practical and hands on approach to your role and ideally you will have some experience of pest control activities while enjoying good health to undertake the full remit of this role.
