SalaryWe are currently seeking to recruit skilled Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our mobile service teams operating out of our Leeming Bar and Brompton-on-Swale Depots.
The purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of a quality Grounds Maintenance service to schools and other council properties within a defined geographical area through the delivery of a specified annual programme of works. Working with a Team Leader, your routine duties will involve driving the works vehicle between sites, grass cutting using ride-on and pedestrian mowers and brush cutters, preparation and maintenance of sports pitches/facilities including line marking, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, weed control and the maintenance of planted areas including the pruning of shrubs.
Other duties may include fencing, planting of trees and shrubs, turfing and seeding and other associated horticultural tasks as from time to time may be required.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 1 years’ recent experience working within the Grounds Maintenance industry and/or be experienced in the use of ride-on mowers in a professional capacity, will hold a full driving licence (B+E entitlement for trailers an advantage) and have a good basic understanding of health and safety as it relates to our particular working environment.

The post offers a starting salary of £22,737 rising to £23,893 (subject to satisfactory incremental progression), 28 days annual leave per year + bank/public holidays and entry into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and clearance.
