The Group Accountant supports the Chief Accountant and provides high-level advice and support to the Council, councillors and senior managers as well as playing a lead role in the closure of accounts. The role is tasked with identifying the national and local economic trends to drive through best practice within financial management.
To be suitable for the role, you need to be a qualified accountant with excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to translate complex financial information. Previous experience of producing annual accounts and liaising with External Auditor, ideally in a public sector setting, is essential.
