Minimum two days per week in the office.Salary:£64,800 Per AnnumClosing Date:Tue, 5 Mar 2024An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Climate and Environmental Sustainability professional to join part of our growing Group Sustainability team as we lead the wider Skipton Group to deliver on our sustainability ambitions.Reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability, you’ll lead on delivering the Society’s net zero roadmap and carbon accounting across the Society in our mission to tackle climate change. You’ll be the go-to Environmental Sustainability specialist sharing knowledge and driving change across Society and in the broader Skipton Group for consistency and strategic alignment.Who Are We?Not just another building society. The Skipton Group also comprises of Skipton Business Finance (asset-based lending) and Jade Software Corporation.You’ll be joining the Group Sustainability Team, part of our 20-strong Legal, Secretariat and Sustainability function, working closely with stakeholders right across the business and Skipton Group to drive strategic delivery of our net zero ambitions and environmental goals and formalising our Group Transition Plan. You will:  Lead delivery against the Group Net Zero roadmap and climate targets, interfacing with applicable external disclosures (Skipton Group’s Net Zero Transition Plan, TCFD/IFRS S1/S2 reporting and disclosures, and UN Principles for Responsible Banking).Track carbon reduction and environmental performance against KPIs including science-aligned reduction targets, underpinned by quality, auditable data to support tracking and reporting.Lead colleague engagement over carbon reduction and Environmental Sustainability activity at the Society and supporting the wider Group with this.Identify returns on investment (financial and carbon savings) from the introduction of carbon reduction measures at the Society and make recommendations for delivery against the plan.Work with the Society’s Premises team to optimise energy contracts that will supply green energy to the Society’s, and where required, the wider Group.What Do We Need From You?Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and gain buy-in for capital expenditure on carbon reduction initiatives.Carbon accounting knowledge to consolidate carbon accounting and measurement of greenhouse gas emissions across the Group, suitable
for reporting and external assurance purposes.Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly and influence senior stakeholders across a large and varied Group entity.Knowledge of contract management for procurement of new products and services to deliver carbon reduction.You will demonstrate the values of the Society and its behaviours: Be Accountable, Be Curious, Be Collaborative, Be Brave.
