This is a business-critical role for BJSS, reflecting the need to develop reporting and insight, strengthen business partnering and improve financial control. The position will report directly to the Head of Finance (HoF).

The purpose of the role is to get involved with both commercial finance reporting and partnering, along with financial governance and reporting, with the aim of developing a best in class finance function. Working closely with the HoF, the role will facilitate the provision of a robust financial platform underpinned by strong controls, from which to support reporting and commercial insight. Leverage benefits of improved reporting and insight by partnering with key stakeholders across business functions.

Key responsibilities

Day-to-day financial management:

• Support with the preparation of the management accounts and other commercial reporting, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in the process, and provision of insightful commentary
• Work with the Business Partnering team to provide enhanced support and commercial insight to leaders across the business to ensure they are bought into plans and budgets
• Provide Commercial Pricing support to Sales deal bid teams as required
• Develop relationships across the business to enable effective management of performance against budgets and investment commitments
• Work with all finance teams to ensure they are efficient, making sure that technology and automation are being used as much as possible
• Support in annual processes, including budgeting and year end external reporting processes
• Review the adequacy of the finance systems and lead any project(s) required to address gaps or weaknesses to ensure that financial controls are appropriate, operated effectively, and are monitored
• Lead tax management, ensuring that opportunities are maximised
• Provide oversight to cash flow management, ensuring that any banking requirements are adhered to. Ensure that a strong culture of working capital management exists across the business
• Manage/support HoF in managing key external stakeholders

• Qualified accountant with high professional standards
• Confident, with excellent communication and relationship building skills, able to provide credible constructive challenge across business functions and at all levels
• Commercially focussed
• Strong grounding in process and control; experience of driving change in systems. Adept driver of change and business improvement with people and communication skills to support effective delivery
• PLC experience and experience of working with IFRS are desirable although not essential
