Total Staff is recruiting on behalf of a leading provider of student accommodation in Portsmouth, dedicated to providing safe and comfortable living spaces for students. We are currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Handyperson to join our team and contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of our properties.
Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Handyperson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our student accommodation facilities. You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks ranging from basic repairs and maintenance to assisting with larger refurbishment projects. The role requires a proactive and versatile individual who can efficiently address maintenance issues and provide exceptional service to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify maintenance issues and repair needs.
- Performing minor repairs and general maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests from residents and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Assisting with larger maintenance projects and refurbishments as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Conducting regular checks of equipment and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory of supplies.
- Adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Providing occasional on-call support during weekends on a rotational basis, with additional allowances and pay provided.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably within the property management or student accommodation sector.
- Strong practical skills with the ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, colleagues, and contractors.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to work safely at all times.
- Flexibility to work weekends on a rotational basis, with additional allowances and pay provided.
- Full driving license preferred.
