Are you a system leader who wants to develop exciting new research opportunities in Cornwall? Following a successful bid for funding from the National Health Institute of Health Research, Cornwall Council is now developing a Health Determinants Research Collaborative in Cornwall. This five year funding will enable the Council to build a team with a deep rooted commitment to growing research to driving our policy and understanding of how to make a positive difference to peoples lives in Cornwall. The Centre will bring together expertise from partners across Cornwall Council, The University of Exeter, The University of Plymouth, Falmouth University, VCSE organisations, NHS and communities in Cornwall to build research infrastructure and skills across Cornwall.
The Centre will help transform understanding of our people, places and wider determinants that have a significant impact of health inequalities in our communities. We are now seeking key appointments to lead and deliver this work including a Service Lead for the programme over the next five years of the Cornwall HDRC. The Service Lead will report to the HDRC Centre Director and work closely with system leaders and partners across Cornwall, and lead the HDRC team within the Council. Cornwall Council are seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to provide leadership and management across the HDRC.
The main duties are as follows: Working across Cornwall Council, Higher Academic Institutions, NHS and Voluntary Sector Partner Organisations. Oversee, plan, organise and communicate the ongoing functions of the Cornwall Council HDRC programmes and ensure the NIHR reporting requirements and objectives are met. To deliver the project reporting and returns requirements related to the HDRC development year and internal project progress requirement. Ensure all HDRC Programme finances and objectives are managed, recorded, reported and delivered within the parameters defined by NIHR Provide expert advice and guidance across the HDRC, through the management and oversight of all key major programmes of the HDRC.
Day to day leadership of the HDRC, overseeing the mobilisation and operation of a team of that will support the development of our delivery programme for the Cornwall Council HDRC. You will work closely with our HDRC academic leads associated with local universities to ensure the HDRC is linked into and influences the work of key institutions, collaborations and networks locally, regionally, and nationally, as well as ensuring our Health and Wellbeing Board, with oversight for the HDRC, understands and benefits from its work. The role will play a key part in the transformation process, particularly in demonstrating the way in which research and data can enhance our understanding of our communities and deliver better services and outcomes for our residents. Demonstrate strong understanding of the role that the wider determinants of health play in population health improvement and tackling health disparities, and how local government can contribute through this vision.
Provide leadership and vision to a team, as well as working collaboratively to drive culture change and improvement. Potential applicants will be required to submit a CV and supporting statement. The supporting statement must demonstrate the following Examples and experience of working 3rdParty organisations and parties, that include Higher Educational Institutions Local Government, NHS, Local Community groups and the Voluntary sector how you have tracked their performance and managed them to ensure they meet their objectives. Your approach to management and communications, both internal and third-party organisations demonstrating how you have experience working across organisational boundaries and where to you see the benefits and challenges associated with collaboration.
