What you will do
- Ensure that the product ranges are developed in line with the creative vision of the brand founder
- Design and develop a range of products and collections
- Plan the vision for a season through extensive research for future drops alongside the brand founder and design team
- Prepare for the on-time executive of each collection from sampling to complete handover to production
- Continually strive to find innovative fabrics, trims, prints, finishes and technique
- Have a great understanding of culture- past and present, and translate that into clothing
- Manage design process from conception to final styling
- Market research to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniques
- Collaborate with team members to select seasonal themes and create new concepts
- Create product sketches and technical drawings
- Review product for style and fit, and revise if necessary
- Present story, mood board, and color boards to the team
- Work with the founder to decide the design direction of the brand each season
- Ability to communicate with manufacturers daily and effectively
- Oversee and manage product life cycle from inception through to final- update sample tracker and critical path
- Create product listings on the website and know all products extremely well
- Work with a merchandiser to analyze sales performance to inform design direction
- Lead all fittings: schedule fittings based on when items are received from manufacturers, gather necessary models or team members for try-on, and review product for style, measurement, fit, and fabric revisions. Clearly and expertly document, and communicate all feedback accurately to the manufacturers.
- Document and archive all work on the drive in an organized and structured manner
- Test the quality of samples (wash tests, all-day wear test, etc.) to ensure that the fabric and sewing of the garment are excellent
- Your profile:
- Minimum 7 years experience, with proven competence in outerwear design
- Excellent knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, 3D experience (CLO user).
- Keen sense of menswear fashion and trends.
- Creative and strategic thinker.
- An understanding of and passion for sustainability within design.
- Organisational talent, assertiveness, strong communication skills, very good structuring ability.
- Strong understanding of commerciality within a brand.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, open-minded and team player.
