About the Role:

The Head of Business Development will inspire, motivate, and drive the sales team to achieve forecast revenue. Key responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities to expand the client base, leading change, and acting as an ambassador for the company. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading a team of Account Managers, enabling them to build a strong pipeline of prospective and long-standing clients. The goal is to promote and expand the company’s commercial activity to generate revenue and ensure sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a company-wide sales and Business Development strategy to meet financial objectives.
  • Be accountable for achieving the sales forecast in line with the budget.
  • Lead the account management strategy and provide support and training to the team.
  • Allocate sales resources to areas such as sales, sponsorship, and delegate acquisition.
  • Ensure staff utilise consultative selling techniques through Training Needs Analysis and identifying future training requirements.
  • Train, coach, and develop staff to deliver their KPIs.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate information management systems to record pipeline sales and results.
  • Manage team performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients.
  • Maintain an accurate database of email contacts within GDPR guidelines.
  • Ensure the sales team has relevant collateral within brand guidelines.
  • Ensure customers receive excellent service and uphold the company’s reputation.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Hold a first degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrate a successful track record in leading a successful sales team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Background & Experience:

  • Proven experience in achieving targets within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Experience in managing a team of sales and/or account managers.
  • A proven track record of success in a sales environment.
  • Ability to prepare, forecast, and manage budgets accurately.
  • Demonstrable track record of Key Account Management.

Knowledge:

  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans that support business growth.
  • Understanding of the sales cycle and ability to coach relevant sales techniques.
