About The Role

Finance, Planning & Analysis: Responsible for the production of the 3 year Claranet UK budget and December reforecasts. This will include setting and implementing the plan and timetable for completion in order to meet any internal or external reporting deadlines.

Responsible for the develop of the finance business partnering model to ensure regular reporting and analysis is provided to the business to support the development and achievement of their plans and deliver the effective move from business partners being “doers” to evolving into “trusted advisors” who leverage the teams around them to ensure value adding information and activities are completed.

  • Act as an interface between the business and the finance and corporate development team (F&CD) to ensure appropriate prioritisation of activity and that F&CD activities are completed in the correct functional area.   
  • Involvement with key business initiatives, such as product launches, ensuring that there is financial rigour around the decision-making process and that our systems, people and processes are adequately prepared.
  • Establish appropriate processes for the evaluation and monitoring of capital expenditure or strategic investments.
  • Oversee the development of a common approach to commission calculations and statements across the business and in collaboration with the UK SLT, work towards greater alignment of commission policies.
  • Support for strategic sales opportunities. Providing advice on price and the commercial structure of deals and thinking creatively to find solutions within the deal model that make a deal happen on favourable terms to Claranet.
  • Ensure that the commercial deal models, cost to serve methodology and pricing tools are robust, consistent across business areas and that our systems, people and processes are adequately prepared for a successful handover from sales to delivery and billing. Ensure monthly and quarterly performance analysis is prepared in line with agreed reporting timetables, guide the team to develop these packs over time to ensure they continue to provide relevant and useful information.  

Revenue & Cost Assurance:

  • Develop and maintain a robust revenue and cost assurance framework including policies and procedures including active leadership within the Revenue & Cost Assurance Forum.  
  • Educate employees across the organisation on revenue and cost assurance standards and procedures. 
  • Ensure there are robust reconciliation processes for all complex supplier bills and these are consistently carried out with issues investigated and resolved.   
  • Ensure reconciliation and control processes are implemented and reviewed to minimise revenue leakage across the portfolio.
  • Identify process issues preventing revenue maximisation or cost minimisation and work with virtual teams to improve these processes.  
  • Manage the implementation of annual price increases and other necessary price increases working with the appropriate virtual team to communicate and implement.
  • Provide insight to relevant senior stakeholders on revenue and cost performance to aid strategic decision-making. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in the reconciliation and assurance processes. 

People Management:

  • Managing a team of nine with two direct reports including: Finance Business Partners, Finance Analysts and Revenue & Costs Assurance Execs.
  • Responsible for recruitment of staff, ensuring that Claranet attracts and develops great people.
  • Responsible for performance management, training and career development of the team to ensure skills are in-line with business objectives.

Critical competencies – Technical Fit

  • CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified with excellent track record and at least 10+ years’ post qualification experience.
  • Experience of working in a commercial or Information Technology driven business of similar size (revenues of £100m+).
  • Management experience of a similar size department.
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills, with an ability to provide commercially sounds advice to the business.
  • Ability to deal at all levels of the organisation with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workload in alignment with the business priorities.
  • Proactive team player with the confidence to gain credibility across the business.
  • A highly driven and energetic individual with gravitas that is eager to make a fundamental impact and develop with the business.

Role Mission

The overall aim of the finance function is to provide expert financial advisory and support services to the business. This falls into two key areas:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

Production of reporting to support and influence business decision making through analytical review of both lead and lag indicators. Development and overall management of the budget and reforecast processes.

Revenue & Cost Assurance:

A key element of Claranet UK’s strategy is to provide solutions to customers that are constructed from repeatable product and service options driving efficiency and improvements in financial performance. The role of the Revenue & Cost team is to provide visibility and guidance as well as implement projects to optimise revenue and costs to support this strategic business objective.
