The National Education Union (NEU) is a force for change in the world OF EDUCATION, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, leaders and support staff in the education sector. You would come on board in at a key moment for the teaching profession, and for public sector trade unions, with a general election approaching.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will take a lead role in developing and communicating our education policy and in shaping the broad educational AND SOCIAL JUSTICE agenda of the NEU. In this influential role for the NEU, you will have oversight of the team that generates policy, advice, and resources on the areas of curriculum, assessment, inequality, inclusion and teacher professionalism.
To be successful in this complex and rewarding role, you will need to have proven experience of working at a senior and strategic level, ideally in a trade union or membership organisation, with significant experience of strategic planning and project management, and proven ability to deliver departmental plans.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including a non-superannuable luncheon allowance currently set at £1,308, 35 days’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. The NEU also operates a Blended Working Arrangement Policy which means colleagues can usually work from home up to twice a week, subject to business needs. Salary and benefits will be pro-rata for part-time applicants.
