The successful candidate will enjoy considerable visibility, taking on wide-ranging responsibilities to support decision-making at the highest levels.
In particular, you will:
- Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Lead the preparation of annual draft budget plan for presentation to the Executive Leadership Team.
- Co-ordinate internal and external audits.
- Ensure financial systems and processes are fit for purpose whilst championing continuous improvement.
- Develop a three-year financial plan alongside the Chief Finance Officer to realise their growth strategy and ensure our business model remains viable and scalable.
- Proactively review all services to make certain they are achieving best value, including the use of procurement consultants.
- Constantly monitor expenditure and income whilst actively controlling costs.
- Update financial processes to ensure they comply with evolving statutory guidelines.
- Liaise with VAT, ESFA, Charity Commission and company registration authorities as appropriate.
- Manage and mentor a small team to build capacity across the firm.
To be equal to the challenge, you will require:
- A formal accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, CIMA) or equivalent professional experience.
- A proven track record in senior finance roles within large organisations, preferably within the education or charity sector.
- Demonstrable expertise in monitoring and analysing budgets and accounts.
- Real flair for shaping policy and strategy.
- Knowledge of producing reports for statutory bodies.
- The interpersonal and presentation skills to influence budget holders and business leaders.
- A creative yet methodical approach to everything you do.
- Excellent leadership skills and a deep commitment to ongoing professional development.
