Job Title:Head of Financial Risk
Location: London (Hybrid)
Role Objective:
Lead the development and implementation of Aspen's risk management framework with respect to Market, Credit and Liquidity risk. To use relevant data, intelligence and analysis to evaluate risk in each of these areas to facilitate prompt business decisions, to pursue corporate objectives and to meet all reporting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
- Lead the work to enhance and maintain Group-wide methodologies and frameworks to ensure a consistent approach to Market, Credit and Liquidity risk management across the Group.
- Provide leadership on the risk oversight and challenge to key business areas including Investments, Treasury and Capital Management.
- Contribute to development of annual Assurance plan, by defining points of focus for assessments, and participating in insightful risk management conversations.
- Continuously monitor the Group's risk profile to ensure timely identification, escalation, mitigation and management of new, emerging or changing Market, Credit and Liquidity risks.
- Prioritises deliverables and activities to support delivery of overall business targets.
- Inputs to and translates organisation vision and Divisional/Functional strategy into operational deliverables and provides tactical leadership and support to managers to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy
- Build strong relationships with Group, entity executives and other senior individuals to ensure strong information gathering, and ability to influence and be seen as credible.
Policy, Process and Procedures:
- Support the Group CRO, CIO and Group Treasurer to maintain relevant Market, Credit and Liquidity risk management policies and related standards.
- Collaborate with the business and Legal Entity Risk Management teams to maintain Risk and Control registers covering the Financial Risks as defined in the Operational Risk Management framework.
- Support the Group-wide Risk and Control Self-Assessment process, including evaluating results to form an assessment on the overall effectiveness of Aspen' control environment with respect to Market, Credit and Liquidity risk.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus:
- Coordinate with the Legal Entity risk teams to deliver Aspen's risk management strategy and capabilities.
- Provide Market, Credit and Liquidity Risk support and advice to Investment, Treasury and Capital Management teams and business partners, including participating in risk reviews and assessments of new business activities and change initiatives to ensure material risks are identified and appropriate controls are implemented
Technical Performance:
- Aggregate risk data and synthesize key Market, Credit and Liquidity risk themes for reporting to senior management, risk governance forums and Board level Committees.
- Assist Risk Management leadership with preparation of materials for Group and Legal Entity risk reporting process to executive committees, and Audit / Risk Committee(s) of the Board of Directors
Requirements & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years Market, Credit and / or Liquidity risk experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Bachelor's Degree, with recognised professional qualifications preferred.
- Industry acumen, including knowledge of business operations, finance, risk, as well as a working understanding of the actuarial aspects.
- Experience working as part of a team within a multi-national insurance environment.
- Working with senior stakeholders and other assurance functions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships at all levels, devote time to develop self and others.
- Delivery focused, with high energy and drive, and ability to deliver through others.
- Sound commercial judgment, able to understand complex processes and structural issues with capacity to go into detail, draw connections, explain succinctly and act decisively and quickly.
- Innovative and able to drive change in order to simplify and strengthen policies, processes and procedures.
- High level of personal confidence; able to lead and manage projects and change through influence and persuasion.
- Leadership courage with the ability to challenge key business decision-makers.
- Must be able to build strong relationships within the business and the wider risk team and community.
