On offer is a crucial role supporting the Deputy Principal in financial planning and management. As the Head of Financial Services, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information and ensuring the efficient delivery of a professional finance service.

Key duties include providing strategic support on financial matters, producing insightful monthly reports, leading in the production of budgets and forecasts, and continuously improving financial, commercial, and system processes.

We are seeking a highly motivated qualified Head of Finance with a strong background in financial and management accounting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and people management skills. Finance professionals from outside the sector who are suitably qualified and have a genuine interest in education will also be considered.

The Role:

• Provide leadership and direction to the Finance Team, promoting effective communication and teamwork to achieve department and College objectives
• Build and manage the team using performance management tools to ensure high performance and efficient customer service
• Develop and implement innovative financial systems, controls, and procedures to meet audit requirements and optimize staff resources
• Ensure accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of Financial transactions, including fixed assets and general ledger transactions
• Provide guidance and training on financial procedures and budget responsibilities to College staff
• Manage the collection of receipts and credit control procedures, including court claims if necessary, and ensure accurate VAT treatment and submission of returns
• Prepare statutory accounts and monthly management accounts, liaise with auditors, and support budget preparation and monitoring

The Person:

• CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW or CIPFA qualified
• Experience in a similar role
