Reporting To: Director Income Generation and Marketing
About The Felix Project
The Felix Project is a dynamic, ambitious charity working to make London a city where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue high quality, fresh and nutritious food that cannot be sold from over 300 suppliers including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants, and delis. We sort and deliver this food to charities, schools and community projects supporting London’s most vulnerable people.
Last year, we rescued over 13.4K tonnes of food and redistributed it to over 1000 frontline community organisations and 170 primary schools, across the 32 boroughs of London. That’s enough food to make more than 32 million meals.
The Felix Project is growing fast in response to huge demand. Set up in 2016, we now have around 180 staff working alongside 15,000 volunteers. We have four main operating depots spread across London - in Deptford, Enfield, Park Royal and Poplar, a commercial kitchen and point to point collection green schemes operating in central London and Canary Wharf.
You will be joining a charity committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Purpose of the Job
The Felix Project is a young charity, just eight years old. We’ve been on a rapid growth trajectory, building our operational footprint to meet the sky-rocketing and desperate need for good food in London to fight food insecurity. This growth means our cost centre has increased each year.
The overarching purpose of this role is to drive sustainable, transformative giving from the general public to enable the charity to plan with confidence into the future.
The charity is committed to build the existing Individual Giving programme; its success has been driven by a digital and campaign led strategy (benefiting from media partnerships). The goal is to increase gross income from £1M per annum to £4M in the next five years.
To establish this sustainable income, there is a commitment to invest. The new postholder will have evidenced experience transforming an Individual Giving Programme, increasing the number of regular giving loyal supporters, generating more one-off donations, increasing gift aid penetration, establishing great welcome, retention and win-back stewardship communications, to generate measurable supporter satisfaction. All delivering net income growth.
The potential to generate sustainable income is enormous. The charity has an amazing volunteer base; last year totalling 15,000 people, weighted to Corporate Volunteers. Payroll Giving represents an area for development.
From a marcomms perspective, Felix is a digital first charity. Our supporters are native to this space. The role holder will bring experience of Gaming for Good, and how the charity could enter and succeed in this market.
Respect for our supporters is at the forefront of what and how we engage. We want to understand what role Generative AI can play to support our Individual Giving ambitions. You will bring experience of what good looks like and be confident in the data compliance and governance to support this ambition.
You will be a marketer, who is able to translate fundraising strategy into inspirational campaigns, targeting the right audience, at the right time, with the right proposition. As part of supporter journey mapping, you will have experience of Legacy Giving, and how to integrate messaging, based on principles grounded in being sensitive, timely, respectful and treating people with dignity.
