Job Description

• Reporting to the Group General Counsel of Mercedes Benz UK, the role involves providing legal services to Mercedes-Benz Financial Services UK, Mercedes-Benz Insurance Services UK, and other group companies, with a particular focus on consumer credit and the regulated activities of the business
• You will provide legal advice on a broad spectrum of financial activities, to include drafting and perfecting wholesale funding agreements and security documentation, advice on credit and lease products, commercial contract drafting, reporting, providing advice on strategic projects, and managing litigation, disputes and Financial Ombudsman Service complaints
• You will attend senior management boards, liaise with the regulatory authorities, advise project workstream teams, and cooperate closely with the Compliance Department
• Miscellaneous legal advice in other areas including, for example, data protection and competition law
• You will also manage and develop a team of lawyers and support staff

The Successful Applicant

Suitable candidates for the role of Head Of Legal will have the following experience and qualifications:

• An experienced solicitor, qualified in the UK or relevant jurisdiction with demonstrable relevant experience.
• Strong leadership experience
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience of Consumer Credit and asset finance including CONC, SYSC, other FCA rulebooks, and the FCA's Consumer Duty regime
• In-house Legal and Commercial experience
• A genuine interest in the Mercedes-Benz business and a strong desire to be a vital part of a dynamic organisation and Legal team
