Job description

Driving best practice, expertise, assurance & consistency in the capabilities of the people, process & systems deployed in the pre & post contract commercial stewardship of the C&P portfolio. Lead on the engagement with key stakeholders, industry & academia to create & maintain an effective, sustainable and professional commercial discipline, compliant with relevant legal, corporate and regulatory requirements.

Description

  1. To lead and inspire the Commercial teams to maintain full engagement in meeting business objectives and provide specialist expertise to functional management on pre and post contract commercial issues.
  2. To manage the continuous improvement of deployed processes and systems that support pre and post contract management activities.
  3. To develop and implement programmes and initiatives to improve quality and efficiency of pre and post contract management activities and lead the roll out and monitor compliance with new/existing procedures.
  4. To lead and comply with company procedures to provide appropriate resources, communication strategies, training and competency including evaluating capability of staff to safely deliver their accountabilities in accordance with legal/regulatory requirements, corporate governance and professional good/best practice.
  5. To define & improve commercial capabilities and develop & maintain effective training & development collateral, establishing routes and pathways for professional development and external professional qualification to drive improvements in commercial stewardship.
  6. To establish & maintain a network of Subject Matter Experts across the C&P community to establish a virtual team 'capability' in support of discipline performance whilst improving co-ordination with other functions & maintaining positive relationships across NR, regulatory, professional & government bodies.
  7. To maintain a programme of assurance, auditing and monitoring to improve the standard of pre and post contract commercial management and contract administration competency.
  8. To influence and liaise with other national programmes to maintain consistency in commercial approach to supply market and our Terms & Conditions.
  9. To provide specialist advice on contract and Commercial issues, maintaining links with other disciplines to develop joint initiatives and deliver improvements.
  10. Regular liaison with the Head of Claims & Contract Compliance on key aspects and findings of contract compliance & assurance reviews, agreeing appropriate training & development collateral and making changes to commercial process & contract terms where necessary.
  11. To identify and capture best practice across the business and define, develop and implement lessons learned initiatives and programmes to improve the quality, efficiency and capability of the commercial discipline.
  12. To represent the organisations interests by influencing relevant external bodies whilst maintaining compliance with appropriate legal and regulatory requirements.

Profile

  • Strong commercial aptitude with high personal and professional standards and be able to act as role model to inspire others.
  • The ability to balance stakeholder expectations against the needs and capabilities of the business and suppliers.
  • Significant knowledge of various standard forms of contract and their application.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract requirements, safety and environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of EU and UK procurement legislation and regulations
  • Advanced influencing and negotiation skills to develop mutually beneficial relationships
