The Head of Programme Chapter acts as the functional leader for the Programme Chapter, fostering and driving skills development for all practitioners across Kingfisher and leading on the development and implementation of best practice methodologies, processes, systems and ways of working. This role owns the Programme Chapter team in Group Technology and Digital managing resources and demand to optimally respond to both Banner and Group requirements. It ensures the Group team and the wider chapter are aligned to the overall strategy and strategic goals and fosters teamwork across the operating model, whilst continuously improving the chapter and general ways of working within Kingfisher
Role Accountabilities
- Technical Standards: Accountable for the technical quality of the project & programme skills area, driving standards to the next level and following the latest techniques
- Vision and Strategy: Creates and delivers the strategic and operational roadmap for the Programme Chapter in line with Technology and Digital strategic objectives
- Capability: Develops and implements the capability approach, overseeing future strategy, identifying any gaps and putting a plan in place through re/upskilling or recruitment to deliver strategy. Develops mindsets and behaviours, championing and influencing a culture of growth mindset, self-leadership and development
- Coach and Advisor: Responsible for serving as a technical coach and advisor to the Programme Chapter members, remaining close enough to the teams to stay connected to project management and the application of programme and project delivery, while staying far enough away to let them problem-solve on their own.
- Tooling: Increases effectiveness & efficiency of application on tools & methods for project & programme delivery
- Resource Allocation: Engages with QBR processes to support resource planning for Group colleagues and prioritisation conversations (including 3rd party contractors / managed service) working in partnership with the Workforce Planning Manager to optimise across the whole.
- Build collaborative relationships: Takes accountability for driving highly effective communication and engagement across banner and group teams to ensure that any changes in resources or quality issues are collaboratively discussed and agreed.
- Budgeting: Accountable for managing budgets within the Chapter (i.e. training etc)
- Performance Management: Accountable for ensuring effective performance processes for the chapter members, including goal setting and feedback processes.
- Talent Management: Drives talent management, coaching and succession for the chapter designing a clear development path within and across functional chapters and ensuring colleagues are supported to meet their potential.
Experience and Skills required
- Practitioner level within Project, Programme delivery methodologies (e.g. Prince2, waterfall, Lean Six Sigma, etc)
- Broad understanding of the IT industry, markets, trends, new technologies, and their implications for retail organisations
- Deep understanding of the banner imperatives and service requirements of retail or similar organisations
- Experience of shaping, motivating and inspiring change within a large, complex, matrix and fast-paced environment
- Strong financial management knowledge knowing how to balance cost versus value and manage costs accordingly.
- Excellent Partner Management & Influencing skills at all levels of the organisation
- Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to quickly identify simple/effective solutions.
- Dedicated people leader, coaching, mentoring, facilitation and teaching, whilst developing a pipeline of future talent
