Form of workFUNCTION OVERVIEW:
The Global Reconciliation Utility (GRU) is responsible for defining and executing a common operating model that delivers a scalable and controlled service offering, supporting reconciliation production globally. The organization is leading a significant, multi-year transformation effort targeting risk remediation, cost efficiency, standardization and simplification of our recon processes and platforms across Operations.
GRU is geographically aligned to a 'follow-the-sun' model with Citi Solution Centres supporting all regions and business lines. The organization's footprint spans across 10 Countries and facilitates reconcilement of over 41 billion transactions per annum.
THE ROLE:
- This role will oversee a large portfolio of Reconciliation developments, continuous improvement and Data Strategy initiatives. The individual will oversee three critical workstreams with senior executive visibility that is targeting to automate over 6,000 manual reconciliations and 50+ Million Manual touchpoints. The lead will also partner across Operations Lines of Business to improve data quality and simplify / streamline our data structure.
- Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary.
- Determines approach and strategy of organizational structure and implementation strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s).
- This will directly report to an MD role and function as an integral member of the functional leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Front-to-back accountability for design and execution of a large portfolio of change management, data and productivity initiatives
- Develops new concepts and approaches to solving issues affecting business / geographic region or a major segment of it
- Supports a wide range of internal clients (Product, Operations, and Finance) and manages multiple high priority visible projects
- Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation.
- Reviews and analyzes data on operations productivity and efficiency; makes strategic decisions on solutions and improvements; presents recommendations to organization and senior management
- Works as a strategic professional who anticipates and designs changes to reconciliations in line with business systems, trade flow processes and tools within an area of expertise corresponding to pre and post settlement processes and transaction capture activities.
- Applies broad and comprehensive understanding in multiple functional areas (all aspects of the trade lifecycle) as well as underlying business principles.
- Maintains detailed understanding of the business and applies industry and market knowledge to drive improvements within the functional area.
- Requires advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to structure and solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions
- Champions mobility, diversity, training, compliance, and risk & control initiatives.
- Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Skills Experience & Qualifications required:
- The successful applicant will possess significant industry knowledge and experience couple with proven skills and experience as a Reconciliation Subject Matter Expert
- A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business.
- Requires thorough understanding of Operations' overall reconciliation strategy and alignment between GRU and all relevant lines of business. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior levels.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness
Management
- Proven experience managing large scale, cross functional programs and budgets
- Proven People management skills – you will be have full management responsibility for multiple teams consisting of approximately 200 professionals, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval with the responsibility for the full range of a business function
- Ability to manage complex issues, and implement and manage a successful risk/control environment
- Stakeholder Management/Engagement
- Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions) and articulates complex recommendations
- Strong experience managing and/or partnering with technology functions
- Builds credibility and trust with the senior management team across the regions
- Develops strong partnerships with Technology, Compliance/Risk, Finance, HR and key internal stakeholders

Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree (Master’s preferred) or proven experience operating in a similar role
