Job Title: Head of Safeguarding - Surrey County Council

We are seeking a strategic leader for the pivotal role of Head of Safeguarding for a local authority in Surrey. This position is fundamental to ensuring compliance with national statutes, regulations, and guidance in safeguarding practices within Adult Social Care. As the Head of Safeguarding, you will drive service excellence, foster a culture of accountability, and champion continuous improvement in safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with national statutes, regulations, and guidance in safeguarding practices.
- Co-ordinate and support service planning to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services aligned with statutory requirements.
- Develop and recommend policy and practice improvements through collaborative efforts and stakeholder consultation.
- Provide professional leadership, enhancing team skills, and fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
- Offer expertise in legislation and quality improvement, driving policy development and innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
- Maintain effective budgetary control, ensuring compliance and managing performance and safeguarding risks.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification with management experience in a specialised area.
- Authoritative understanding of relevant legislation and practice standards.
- Strong analytical and evaluative skills with change management expertise.
- Ability to balance policy development with operational management effectively.
- Proven leadership skills, capable of inspiring, coaching, and developing team members.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and decision-making.
