The primary objective of this role is to provide strategic leadership and management for the Law School, with a focus on developing its brand, identity, and academic profile. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in establishing Leeds Trinity University as a preferred destination for learners on regional, national, and global scales, particularly as the Law School transitions to the new City Centre Campus in Autumn 2024. As the Head of the School of Law, the key responsibilities include steering excellence in the student experience, fostering partnerships with external stakeholders, and building collaborative relationships. The role also involves developing a staff team with cutting-edge subject knowledge and promoting an innovative, entrepreneurial approach to education, research, and knowledge exchange. Key Responsibilities: Build the visibility and profile of the Law School within the university's strategic plan and the higher education marketplace. Lead the development of the Law School's brand and identity in the new City Centre Campus, aligned with strategic ambitions. Develop a growth strategy for the School, in collaboration with the Faculty Dean, to increase learner numbers and diversify the demographic. Lead the development of the academic, research, and knowledge exchange portfolio, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Provide strategic leadership for the Law School within the new campus, setting and advancing its strategic direction in collaboration with senior colleagues. Establish a high-performance culture within the School and staff team to support key targets and indicators related to academic quality, student experience, and research. Qualifications and Experience: PhD/Professional Doctorate and/or significant high-level professional experience in a related field. Professorial status or eligibility to apply for it. Recognised authority in their field with a leading role in relevant professional bodies or equivalent work-based sector-level experience. Strong record of academic/professional excellence with a deep understanding of industry trends. Proven ability to lead curriculum and portfolio growth and development, contributing to excellence in learning and teaching. Demonstrated ability to lead strategic developments at the School level and contribute to institutional goals. Proven ability to formulate and communicate a clear vision, address barriers to change, and effectively manage staff performance. The successful candidate will initially be based at Horsforth Campus but is expected to relocate to the Leeds City Campus in Academic Year 2024/25.
