The Head of Service role is the operational lead for Cambridgeshire County Council’s Integrated Front Door Service and the Assessment Team and will focus on delivering improved outcomes as well as value for money.
The Head of Service role will be expected to have a presence in the following assessment buildings; Awdry House - Wisbech, Noble House in Ely, Fawcett House in Trumpington, and Buttsgrove in Huntingdon.

This role will be required to work from a Police building and therefore this post will be subject to the outcome of a Police vetting check.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Adopting a highly collaborative approach you will ensure that internal and external resources work together to identify and deliver a range of Services that meet the needs of the community and the children and young people in care, who are at the centre of everything we do.
By joining us you will be supported personally and professionally to deliver in this key role. Enabling you to provide leadership to children’s social care delivery teams ensuring a high standard of practice, taking key operational decisions to improve the outcomes for the children and families of Cambridgeshire.
You will hold statutory duties and work across the system with partners to deliver the best outcome possible for Cambridgeshire’s children and young people.
About you
You will be a qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration and demonstrate strong leadership and management skills.
You will have comprehensive knowledge and experience of operational safeguarding children services and corporate. You must be confident to lead with compassion but be able to deliver creative and innovative solutions.
You must have a solid understanding of the issues and challenges faced by local government and the skills to establish and sustain positive relationships across the system building trust and confidence.
You will be a strategic thinker and can identify and implement strategic solutions with a proven track record of effective change management.
