We are currently seeking an expert individual to join this team in the role of Head of Strategic Cost Management HBUK.
HSBC UK represents 20-25% of the Group resources and performance and is one of its two pillar, home, markets. It is a major legal entity of the Group. The CEO of HSBC UK sits on the Global Executive Committee. Furthermore, the ring-fenced bank nature of HSBC UK demands an additional level of independent accountability and action that likewise demands a commensurate level of leadership capability and experience to meet the high expectations from the Board, the executive and the regulator.
This is a key role in a key legal entity. Some key data points: c£4bn cost base; change the bank investment budget commensurate with its scale within the Group; >300 branches; and c25,000 employees.
Cost discipline is a key pillar of the Group’s performance and its share price, featuring persistently in market commentaries. It is a difficult and complex ambition.
In this role, you will:
• lead Cost management and analytics underpinning the Bank’s performance and strategy across HSBC UK, regularly engaging with executives of the Bank and their senior leadership, as well as finance leadership globally; and
• bring strong transformational leadership to a role that has been created as part of a new organisation approach to bring together all subject activities across HSBC UK Finance under common leadership.
