Description
The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for:
- Working closely with the operations teams on site to help improve the standard of Health and Safety culture across the site.
- Conduct a health & safety audits and inspections and develop the template as part of our continual improvement programme.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated, and provide support to our compliance and management teams in accordance with our policies and procedures.
- Provide accurate and timely weekly, and monthly data for reports which communicate the site's H&S performance.
- Review Contractor Competency documentation for compliance.
- Conduct regular reviews of live H&S actions.
- Manage hazard observation reporting on our software platform.
- Assist our compliance teams in conducting internal H&S audits.
- Assist in the maintenance and development of policies and procedures to comply with the requirements of our ISO management systems. (ISO45001 / ISO14001)
- Assist with risk assessments.
- Conduct manual handling assessments & COSHH assessments.
- Support the completion of PUWER assessments.
- Assist & support compliance & manufacturing teams in carrying out method statements.
- Chair H&S meeting, produce meeting notes, and distribute.
- Liaise between HR, training providers and line managers to organise external H&S training.
- Assist HR in maintain the training matrix at each site.
- Assist HR with personal risk assessments when required.
Profile
The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or higher.
- Significant experience of working within a similar H&S role, within manufacturing / engineering / logistics environment. Detailed knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application in a manufacturing environment.
- The successful candidate shall be confident, well organised, with a flexible 'can-do' attitude, have attention to detail and be a team player who supports others. The person must be flexible and able to adapt well to changing work demands and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, take pride in their work, and shall treat others with respect.
- You'll be well organised and systematic in your approach with experience of ensuring appropriate documentation and compliance to processes such as audits and risk assessments, experience of operating within ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems. You will be able to evidence a strong focus on building relationships and improving H&S standards through appropriate communication, advice, and training.
