Key Role & Accountabilities
You will assist the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring that the site operation is fully compliant with current Health & safety legislation and best practice within the industry. You will ensure that the company’s Health & Safety policies, procedures and practices are in place and are monitored and reviewed on a regular basis in liaison with the senior management team. You will assist in minimising operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries by driving a positive Health and Safety culture throughout the site. You will work closely with operational teams to assist them in remaining legally compliant and aid them to make improvements in efforts to reduce injury and ill health.
What you will be doing
- Regular inspections and auditing of the site’s Health and Safety performance in line with Group policy
- Ensuring all site risk assessments including Fire, operational, manual handling, COSHH, DSE, Noise etc are in place, up to date and reviewed on a regular basis.
- Control of procedures covering all Contractors to site Including C.D.M, permits to work, insurance, PPE, contractors Handbook etc.
- Thorough Investigation of all accidents /Near misses in line with Group systems and reporting procedures ensuring that all documentation is accurate and accessible.
- Provide a fast response to the receipt and process of new liability claims information to the Group Health and Safety Manager.
- In close liaison with the training department deliver and evaluate Health and Safety training as required by divisional recommendations
- Chair the Health and Safety committee meeting and drive results.
- Designing and managing promotional campaigns to maintain Health and Safety awareness.
- Provide Support for site inductions to new colleagues and transferees on Health and Safety responsibilities.
- Assist the Divisional Health & Safety Coordinator and Health and Safety Manager to maintain ISO45001 accreditation in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Major involvement with relevant external Audits E.g., Insurance, HSE, BRC etc
- Look for opportunities for continual improvement of the sites Health and Safety Management system.
Experience / Knowledge
- NEBOSH General Certificate in OHS or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate desirable
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- IT literate - Ability to produce accurate, visually captive information in a variety of reporting formats including the use of Microsoft Office applications and Health and Safety information systems.
- Experience of delivering training is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Machinery Safety Standards.
- Up to date with current legislation.
- Drive and enthusiasm to deliver, report and advise action regarding KPI performance.

Salary: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
