Position – Health and Safety Officer
Location – Edinburgh/Falkirk – Hybrid Working
Type – Fixed term for 6 months
Salary – Negotiable depending on experience
FINTEC recruit are currently seeking a Health and Safety Officer on behalf of their client in the housing industry.
This is a Fixed Term post for 6 months to cover for additional workload with the potential to continue longer.
This post can be based at the Falkirk or Edinburgh office. However, hybrid working is available with this role.
Alternative working patterns and/or working arrangements will be considered.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety Officer to provide expert advice on health, safety and welfare issues relating to in-house trades operations as well as other key areas of operatives’ responsibilities across the business.
Ensure effective and compliant implementation of policies and procedures to support safe working as well as implementing a planned programme of reviewing safe systems of work and risk assessments and/or method statements for in-house planned, cyclical and reactive works.
Developing and rolling out a programme of dynamic workplace inspections, providing corrective advice and guidance where necessary.
Monitor and report on specialist subcontractors’ Health and Safety compliance and deliver training and toolbox updates to support and encourage safe working practices.
Skills and Experience Required for the Health and Safety Officer role :-
- Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent and IOSH member at Technical or Graduate level, you will have detailed knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as well as experience of providing expert advice to managers and operatives on Health and Safety.
- Experience of working within a large multi-functional organisation over multiple locations and conducting workplace and site safety inspections is essential for this role therefore strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills are required.
- The postholder will have experience of delivering Health and Safety training to management and operatives and delivering toolbox talks, utilising their excellent communication skills.
- You must be able to travel between different site locations.
