Position : Band 3 Health Care Support Worker

As a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker, you will provide essential assistance and support to patients and healthcare professionals within a clinical setting. Working under the direction of registered nurses and other healthcare staff, you will perform a variety of duties to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients. Your role will involve providing direct care, assisting with activities of daily living, and maintaining a clean and organized environment to facilitate efficient healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobilizing, respecting their dignity, privacy, and autonomy.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing staff.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate techniques and equipment to prevent injury and promote independence.
- Assist healthcare professionals with clinical procedures, such as wound care, catheterization, specimen collection, and simple dressing changes, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, responding to their needs and concerns with empathy and compassion.
- Perform basic administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
- Clean and sanitize patient care areas, equipment, and supplies according to infection control standards and protocols, contributing to a safe and hygienic environment.
- Stock and replenish supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate levels are maintained to support patient care activities and minimize disruptions.
- Escort patients to appointments, tests, and procedures within the healthcare facility, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews, contributing ideas and feedback to improve service delivery and patient care outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role preferred.
- Basic understanding of healthcare procedures and terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their caregivers.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation purposes.
