The Health and Fire Safety (H&S) Lead will support the implementation of H&S regulations on the SMR project. The Lead will assist in carrying out project health safety reviews and Fire Safety reviews, ensuring the application of the principles of prevention, preparing pre-construction information and health and safety files and will also oversee contractors developing of theH&S and Fire Safety section of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
- H&S and Fire Safety considerations for design and construction.
- Prepare and maintain project level CDM Compliance Strategies
- Identifying and obtaining existing pre-construction information and manage its collation.
- Review and comment on designers' hazard & risk information / support the project with management of the hazard register.
- Maintain close links with designers and assist them in identifying and eliminating or controlling foreseeable risks to health and safety, and Fire Safety. Ensuring design processes to identify risks to health and safety, or Fire Safety.
- Assist in the preparation of the Health and Safety File.
- Provide advice on health and safety, Fire Safety, risk management, and design coordination.
- Carrying out reviews of site project information and design/construction drawings, and identification of design, construction and maintenance risks through Design Risk Reviews.
- Attending design & project Meetings as required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of robust CDM strategies.
- Production of H&S and Fire Safety policies, including Construction, Design Management strategy.
- COSHH and DSEAR assessments.
- H&S and Fire Safety design requirements capture.
- Assessing mitigation measures for H&S and fire Safety in design and construction.
- Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
