Are you a team player and able to work independently? If so the Oral Health Improvement team, part of Oxfordshire’s Community Dental Service would like to hear from you. We are looking for an Health Improvement Practitioner to join our busy Oral Health Improvement Team.
You will need to be a good communicator, be flexible and creative in your approach to work whilst having excellent time management skills and IT literate.
The Health Improvement Practitioner role is pivotal in the team delivering Oral Health messages; enabling us to provide an excellent service to our clients and partners within the community.
We are looking for a passionate individual who will enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Oral Health improvement work and who is interested in being supported to continue their professional development.
The Health Improvement Practitioner is a band 5 post for 22.5 hours per week, some flexibility is possible. If you have any questions please contact us; we are waiting to hear from you. It is essential to this role that you have a current driving licence which enables you to drive in the UK and access to a car.
This is a Fixed Term maternity cover for 12 months and can be consider as a secondment opportunity for Oxford Health employees.
Oxfordshire Community Dental Service, part of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, has been commissioned by Solutions 4 Health in partnership with Slough Borough Council to provide Oral Health Improvement to Slough. Within the dental service there is a designated Oral Health Improvement team which has responsibility for delivering the oral Health Improvement work to Slough.
The Health Improvement Practitioner is a member of the supportive Oral Health Improvement team working in Slough and parts of Oxfordshire.
The post involves working with health and non-health professionals caring for children and vulnerable adults within the community to promote oral health. Independent working, collaborative working and regular travel across the Boroughs are required.

Plan, develop, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate Oral Health Improvement (OHI) activities, projects and programmes to targeted groups identified by Slough Healthy Smiles, Solutions 4 Health and Slough Borough council.
Plan, develop, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate training programmes and projects for key stakeholders within the area such as dental teams, public health, health visitors, school health nurses, dieticians, GP surgeries, education department, children’s centres, voluntary and private care agencies etc.
Prepare and deliver presentations for local and countywide audiences, using both face to face and online platforms with an appropriate use of a range of resources such as a computer, projector and/or visual display boards, and Microsoft Teams.
Develop programmes for specialist providers where oral care is a particular concern, such as learning disability service, in line with oral health strategies.
