We are an aspiring organisation, and we are looking for a skilled Health & Safety Engineer who will be responsible for analysing and identifying potential hazards onsite and developing safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries to ensure the safety of employees
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Provide health and safety (Inc fire) advice and guidance to the business across NTCE/TCS Cranfield
- Promote Health and Safety throughout the Company
- Maintain, develop (as needed), and monitor organisational safety arrangements, systems and risk control measures and standards
- Advising on and maintaining the site disaster management procedure and coordinating the site planning, preparation, training, and auditing including for national emergencies e.g., COVID
- Identify hazards, assessing risks and identifying suitable means of control. Facilitating and supporting others in risk assessment activities.
- Issue Permits to Work and ensure compliance
- Developing and implementing local and regional health and safety plans and initiatives
- Monitoring and reporting locally, regional, and globally on entity safety performance vs internal and external standards and requirements
- Complete internal safety inspections (including on contractors) and support department managers inspections as required
- Co-ordinate the investigation of all accidents and incidents, including reporting, analysis, and countermeasures
- Organisation & secretariat of NTCE Health & Safety Committee. Attend NDE HSC meetings and regional safety council
- Set Fire Safety Strategy in liaison with high-risk departments, agreeing training and volunteer roles, arranging Fire Drills and emergency practice sessions.
- Plan and organise Statutory Inspections of lifting equipment, pressure vessels, lifts, LEV's
- Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including competent authorities.
- Set HS training strategy, develop specifications and content with external providers as necessary. Liaise with the training coordinator to develop and where necessary deliver Health and Safety training to help achieve the Company's needs
- Monitor and control of H&S budget
- Monitor the performance and effectiveness of the external Occupational Health provider, ensuring OH standards are maintained, and driver medicals are delivered to the required standard and in line with company needs
- Maintain adequate information systems on topics including civil and criminal law, health and safety management and technical advances
- Knowledge and experience of developing, implementing, and auditing of the ISO standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering and or related discipline
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
