Join Our Team as a Health & Safety Officer

Position:Health & Safety Officer
Location: Darlington, with North East and occassional National travel
Contract: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week), Monday to Friday (Part-time contracts available)
Salary: £27,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
Benefits: 28 days' holiday per year including bank holidays (pro rata), 3-month probation period, and a commission structure on sales generated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage directly with clients to coordinate, support, and advise on all health and safety matters
- Develop comprehensive documentation to meet the growing needs of businesses
- Stay updated with legislative changes and communicate these effectively to clients
- Create and implement bespoke policies, risk assessments, and method statements
- Conduct audits, investigations, and develop action plans to address deficiencies
- Attend on-site inspections, audits and investigations
- Assist clients with accreditation such as CHAS, Constructionline and Safe Contractor
- Actively engage and acquire new clients to drive business development
- Regularly review and update policies to ensure compliance with legislation
- Maintain accurate client records using CRM software
- Provide top-tier advice on best practices via phone and face-to-face meetings
- Participate in weekly strategy meetings and proactively manage client accounts
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (please do not apply if you do not have this qualification)
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- GCSEs in Maths & English (minimum grade C or grade 4)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Full, clean driver's licence
Desirable:
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate
- Strong initiative and a proactive approach to tasks
- Familiarity with the services provided by the WE DO Group
