About the role:
Led by the HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality and Environment) Director, the department’s role is to help the business make the best choices for the safety, environment, health and quality of our operation, our team and our customers. We provide technical guidance, advice and assurance on managing HSQE across the business nationally.
Job Purpose / Primary Objective
Provide technical guidance, advice and assurance on all HSQE matters to support the Managing Director and operational leaders. This will allow the effective specification, bidding, design, delivery and problem-solving across a diverse and growing portfolio of electrical and mechanical projects ranging from solar power, facilities management and air conditioning across the UK.
The Key Responsibilities of this Role include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- To work safely and responsibly within MJ Quinn’s values and operational policies, procedures, and accepted behaviours to avoid harm to yourself, those around you and our neighbours and communities.
- Raising and following up on non-conformance reports, to ensure that any actions identified, pursued, and resolved.
- Work as part of a larger team to develop working practices and procedures.
- Guide, lead, advise and direct HSQE advisors working for them or assigned to them.
- Through confident and well-considered counsel, help business operational leaders make compliant HSQE decisions that meet customers’ needs.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being implemented.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employers’ industry.
- Ensure equipment is installed safely.
- Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Lead and drive Integrated Management System (Safety, Environment and Quality) compliance, making recommendations for improvements as required, at our work sites and locations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a HSQE Advisor role.
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety. Level 3 or higher qualification in engineering or construction based subject. Achieved or working towards CMIOSH or equivalent. Preference given to candidates holding or willing to gain an ISO 9001/14001/45001 lead auditor qualification
- Passionate about Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
- Member of IOSH (or working towards)
- Experience of identifying, conducting, communicating, and reviewing various risk assessment types (General, COSHH, Fire , DSE, PUWER, Manual Handling etc)
- Preference given to candidates holding or willing to gain an ISO 9001/14001/45001 lead auditor qualification
- An effective communicator at all levels with client-facing experience.
