Salary range: £47,420 per annum
Work location: Graham Hill House, Oxford

The post holder will be required to work outside normal office hours (including weekends) and to travel extensively throughout the county to lead this programme and work in a supportive way with food premises business owners, as required.
Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working
Contract type: Temporary for 24 months
Closing date: 12th April 2024
Interview date: 22nd and 24th April 2024

About the role


Oxfordshire County Council is looking for a dynamic individual to be based within our trading standards service, but working across both Trading Standards and Public Health, to lead the development and delivery of a new programme or programmes to support existing Oxfordshire food businesses, to provide and give customers access to Healthier Food.

About you


Do you have the passion and ideas for encouraging the promotion of healthy food in Oxfordshire but also can identify problems or gaps in provision?


Do you have the motivation and skills to encourage and persuade businesses to offer healthier options?


  • You will have a regulatory or public health background or a dietetic/nutrition qualification and may have additional skills such as having worked in a food business.
  • You will have the skills to enable you to both develop a Healthier Food Programme (with advice of Public Health and Trading Standards colleagues) and work in a supportive way with food business owners to help them make impactful and sustainable changes towards a Healthier Food offer.
  • You must be able to work independently, with support from colleagues when required.
  • Build good connections with partners.
  • You will need to be able to undertake research and carry out evaluations.
  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise with a wide range of agencies, businesses, and customers.
  • Be creative in designing incentives for businesses to take up the programme.
  • Come up with recommendations and act on those recommendations.
  • You will have a good understanding of healthy diets and products.
