To play a key policy role in managing and mitigating legal and reputational risk. The role can be fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Good attention to detail and honed communication and engagement skills to explain, clarify and articulate the policy and legal position to a wide audience are important.
Previous legal or policy experience is desirable, but not essential.
Key accountabilities:
- Liaise with the legal advisor team on litigation cases.
- Advise on policy, processes, and emerging issues.
- Provide policy input to live legal cases, and manage risks
- Identify pertinent information from case working and eligibility files to clearly articulate how and why decisions were made in individual cases
- Ensure coherence of outputs with Policy, Casework and Secretariat teams.
- Keep track of key deadlines as part of a busy portfolio.
Key requirements:
- Strong communication skills and ability to build good working relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and keep track of key deadlines
- Good drafting skills and close attention to detail
- Previous legal or policy experience is desirable, but not essential.
