Background

NORPOWER is an overhead line business through which VINCI Energies undertakes its Transmission & Distribution activities. NORPOWER specialise in the design, supply, installation, maintenance and commissioning of Overhead Line (OHL) steel tower and wood pole networks for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK.

The Role

The requirement is for a Class 1 HGV driver with a valid CPC. Driver ADR certification would be advantageous.

The HGV driver position is a full-time permanent role and will involve regular periods of working away from our main base in Muir of Ord on our project sites. Our project sites are mainly in the North of Scotland, but we do also regularly carry out OHL project works for other clients as far south as Cornwall.

We currently operate a variety of HGV’s ranging from a 44t GVW articulated low loader, 44t GVW wagon and drag trailer and both 6- and 4-wheel drive rigid HGV’s for which we would require the successful applicant to operate as dictated by project specific requirements.

Some HGV’s are also fitted with lorry loader cranes which are utilized for loading / unloading materials and equipment so some experience in the operation of lorry loaders would be an advantage. Training will be given as necessary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsibility for the vehicles roadworthiness while in use

· Ensuring load(s) are suitabily secured

· Carry out general driving duties as required and instructed.

· Safe operation, storage and maintenance of all relevant vehicles, plant and machinery, including completion of the required checks and report any defects found.

· Maintain appropriate driver and tachograph records in accordance with current regulations.

· Comply with NorPower’s policies, taking responsibility for your own actions, in order to assist the Company in meeting its aims and objectives as applicable to your role.

· Provide general assistance on work site or at base yard as required.

· Participate in risk assessments and carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and comply with safety & environmental rules/procedures, applicable regulations and codes of practice.

· Safe use and storage of all equipment and tools provided by the company in accordance with training/instruction.
