HGV Maintenance Fitter - Waste Management
EMPLOYER: Our client, a well-established Waste Management company, is in search of an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to enhance their team.
PACKAGE:
Salary: £18-£19 per hour with pension benefits (Permanent position)
Working Hours: 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week (contracted)
Overtime available, with Saturday paid at time and a half and Sunday at double time
Location: Cardiff

ROLE:
As an HGV Maintenance Fitter, your responsibilities will cover a fleet of HGVs. You will be involved in planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules and will handle maintenance, servicing, and repairs for various machinery. Timely completion of relevant checks and fixtures is crucial, as is your ability to identify faults and manage all aspects of machine maintenance. You will work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring strict compliance with health and safety protocols and company procedures.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
To excel in this role, you must have experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter or Multiskilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter in a heavy industry setting. Ideally, prior exposure to working on HGVs, including expertise in hydraulics and pneumatics, would be beneficial. Possession of an engineering apprenticeship is preferred, along with qualifications as a Certified Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, or Maintenance Technician (C&G/NVQ/HNC, etc.). Any electrical qualifications or experience would be advantageous, and while not mandatory, welding qualifications are also desirable. You should be either time-served or qualified in your chosen field, such as Mechanical Fitter or Maintenance Technician, to the level of C&G/NVQ/HNC/HND.
