£22.50ph (Negotiable)
We have role available for an HGV technician or mechanic to work at our client based in Liverpool.
This role operates on a 40 hours 4 day working week. The working days are Tuesday to Friday and the start and finish times are flexible depending on the successful candidate's availability.
You will be working for a transport company maintaining their fleet of tractor units based at their Liverpool depot. You will work along side a team of two trailer techs.
This role is long term opportunity for a technician or mechanic that is looking for complete ownership of their role and wants to be a key part of a growing business.
Pay for this role is negotiable.
Key responsibilities for the HGV Technician:
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on HGV vehicles, trailers and other vehicles in the company fleet in line with current regulations.
- Diagnose and plan repairs for the fleet.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT.
- Maintain inventory of parts in the workshop.
- Provide repair services on the road in case of breakdowns.
- Maintain records including inspection documents and job sheets.
- Use company software to record rectification works for reported defects.
- Produce high quality work to measured standards in an efficient and compliant manner.
- Ensure that workshop equipment and facilities are kept clean and well maintained to meet Health and Safety requirements.
- Continuously seek to improve service levels in order to maintain high levels of vehicles availability.
Ideal candidate skills for the HGV Technician:
- Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude
- Proficiency with power tools and equipment
- Full category B driving licence
- C&E entitlement on licence preferred
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to weld and fabricate is desirable
- Capable of performing heavy lifting tasks
- Knowledge of electrical systems in HGV vehicles
- Knowledge and experience of using vehicle diagnostic software
- Understanding of latest DVSA regulations and legislation
- Proven experience with NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- IRTEC accredited desirable
- Knowledge of Mercedes, MAN & Renault ideal
